Privacy Policy

Your data. Your phone.
Full stop.

Caru is built on a simple principle: your child's health records belong to you, not us. Here's exactly what that means in practice.

Last updated: April 2026 · Applies to Caru for iOS and Android

The short version

Caru stores all data locally on your device. We have no servers. We never see your child's information. Nothing is transmitted to us. Ever.

The longer version below explains exactly how data flows — and doesn't flow — when you use Caru.

What data Caru stores

When you use Caru, the following information is saved on your device:

  • Your child's name, date of birth, and profile details
  • Health check records and appointment notes
  • Growth measurements (height, weight, head circumference)
  • Immunisation records
  • Medicine dose logs and timer data
  • Developmental milestones
  • Progress notes and memory entries
  • Photos added to memory entries (stored in the app's local storage)

All of this data lives on your device only.

Where your data goes

It doesn't go anywhere. Caru has no cloud backend, no company servers, and no data pipeline. There is no account to create, no login, and no way for us to access your records even if we wanted to.

Your data is backed up through your personal cloud storage — iCloud on iOS or Google Drive on Android — which you control. LEME Digital never has access to your backup files.

Analytics and tracking

Caru does not include:

  • Analytics tools (no Firebase Analytics, no Mixpanel, no Amplitude)
  • Crash reporting services that transmit data off-device
  • Advertising SDKs or ad identifiers
  • Third-party tracking of any kind

We do not know how many people use Caru, how often they open it, or what features they use. We have deliberately chosen not to know.

Notifications

If you enable medicine timer notifications, these are scheduled locally on your device using iOS or Android's built-in notification system. Notification data is not transmitted to any server. Caru does not use push notification services that require a server connection.

Children's privacy

Caru is designed for parents and carers to maintain health records for children. Because all data is stored locally and never transmitted to us, Caru does not collect any personal information from children and is not subject to COPPA or similar regulations in the way that online services are. The data you enter stays on your device under your control.

Your rights

Because we hold no data about you, the usual data rights (access, correction, deletion, portability) are exercised entirely within the app:

  • View and edit all your records directly in the app at any time
  • Export your complete health record as a file from Settings
  • Delete all data permanently from Settings
  • Delete the app to remove all local data from your device

There is no request process, no waiting period, and no form to fill in. You are in complete control.

Australian Privacy Act

LEME Digital is an Australian company. The Caru app does not collect, hold, use, or disclose personal information as defined under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). As such, standard Australian Privacy Principles obligations regarding access, correction, and disclosure do not apply — because there is no data held by us to apply them to.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide notice within the app. Continued use of Caru after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
